It’s destructive, it’s indiscriminate, and it leaves a mess that’s difficult to clean up.
Hate is contagious.
It can spread like a virus, infecting others with the same level of anger and bitterness.
Hate is easy.
It doesn’t require thought or introspection or any kind of emotional labor. It just requires a decision, a commitment to an idea, and the willingness to act on that commitment.
Most of the time, hate is directed at things that are out of our control. We hate the weather, we hate politics, we hate the way people drive.
Sometimes, the thing we hate the most is ourselves. We hate our weaknesses, we hate our limitations, we hate the things we can’t change.
The thing we have to remember is that hating doesn’t make anything go away. It corrodes.
